The product used is PROGREEN or Protan CG dependant on the green roof application.
Glossary of green roofing types.
Extensive System
Low maintenance vegetation landscape that is wind, frost and drought resistant. This system uses Sedum blankets giving an instant greening, colourful and attractive roof.
Intensive System
This system is diverse in scope and can involve trees, coppices, lawn and paved areas to create a roof garden. This system requires a concrete deck and a strructural analysis must be undertaken due to the incresed weight loadings involved.
Turf Roof System
This is the simplist and quickest system to install. The growuing medium is supplied in hessian bags installed over the membrane with a 20mm screed of soil and wildflower turf mats placed on top. This system is the most flexible in that it can be used at almost all roof pitches.
Ballasted Roofs.
Though not strictly a `green roof' ballasted roofs are increasingly popular adding to the usability of the building and can consist of a gravel or paved covering.
Brown Roof System
This system is very much like the ballasted system and can be covered with locally sourced material or a mixture of brick and concrete rubble, this is left to `self colonise' to help the local biodiversity supporting rare species of plants and animals.
